Tapawera Armistice Weekend

10 November 2018 - 11 November 2018

Our weekend of activities will bring alive what life was like a hundred years ago and remember those soldiers from our region that passed through Tapawera’s military training campgrounds. The 1918 Armistice marked the advent of world peace and the return home for New Zealand’s soldiers after the terrible battles of the First World War. Come and join us to mark this hugely significant hundred year anniversary.

We, with the RSA, are being supported by a host of organisations including Tasman District Council, and are part of the national programme of events to commemorate WW100. We welcome groups and individuals from our region wanting to be part of the event and share in making it a special tribute to all those who suffered and lost their lives in the Great War.
Saturday will be focused on life in Tapawera a hundred years ago and what the ‘return home’ would have been like. It’s a day to enjoy a range of entertainment and activity options.

Sunday will be devoted to the commemoration of the soldiers who lost their lives, and include a special parade from the Armistice service to the displays area of the old military training campgrounds set beneath our Stag Emblem.
Interested to come? Then check out more on our website and join our email list for updates on our programme details.
